Affordability

Ashford already has one of the lowest program costs available online. With the Auto Industry Grant, your undergraduate per credit course cost will be further reduced. You'll also get the help you need from us to explore your financial options including to determine if you are eligible to receive financial aid.


Transferability

Your work and life experiences could translate into college credits. From formal and informal work training, continuing education programs, workshops, and other sources, you can earn credit for learning experiences by documenting that learning. You can transfer up to 99 approved semester credits (148.5 quarter credits) to help fulfill your Bachelor's degree requirements. That means all your past hard work will not be wasted.


Flexibility

Work around your busy schedule with the flexibility of online courses. Log in anytime to participate and post your work in class. 5-week undergraduate and 6-week graduate online courses are taken one at a time.

How to Qualify

To be eligible for the Auto Industry Grant, you must:

  • be a current employee of General Motors, Ford, or Chrysler or a former employee who worked at General Motors, Ford, or Chrysler between January 1, 2008 to September 1, 2009
  • provide proof of employment with General Motors, Ford, or Chrysler during the eligibility period. Acceptable documentation includes:
    • official letter or email verifying employment or termination from Human Resources
    • if this documentation is not available, a pay stub or 2008 W-2 will be accepted
  • submit your application for admission and all grant-verifying documents by September 23, 2009
  • enroll in and start a course before September 29, 2009
  • remain enrolled (without breaks in attendance greater than 29 days) or return as scheduled from an approved Leave of Absence.


Auto Industry Grant

As a current or former employee of GM, Chrysler, or Ford, you can rely on distinct benefits available to you as a recipient of the Auto Industry Grant.

For students planning on pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, the benefits are:

  • tuition grant of $104 per credit (reducing the net tuition per credit to $250)
  • waived application fee ($55 savings)
  • waived technology fee ($990 savings)
  • costs, including standard shipping, covered for books for first two courses when purchased through Ashford University's bookstore (up to $200 savings)


For students who plan to pursue a Master's degree, the benefits are:

  • waived application fee ($55 savings)
  • costs, including standard shipping, covered for books for first two courses when purchased through Ashford University's bookstore (up to $280 savings)


Please note:

  • Any tuition and applicable fees not covered by this grant must be paid in accordance with the terms of your selected finance option(s) as stated in your enrollment agreement.
  • The Auto Industry Grant is currently not available to residents of Florida or Tennessee.
  • Please enter affiliation code Big3 when completing your online application.
